America 250 Committee advances downtown banners, summer events

America 250 Committee Meeting · Meeting of May 5, 2026

CT EAST HAMPTON — America 250 Committee advances bicentennial events with downtown banner installation and summer programming. Co-Chairs Kevin Reich and Jack Solomon oversaw unanimous approval of the April 14 minutes and updates from member reports. The Navy Rock Band will perform May 12 with a vocalist added; a Bevin Bell open house is scheduled June 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Board of Education's Mary Clark reported middle and high school bands will march in Memorial Day and Old Home Day parades, and schools will dedicate the week after Memorial Day to America 250 curriculum additions and student programming. The committee is coordinating a July 8 Declaration of Independence reading at 6 p.m. through a request from the Sons of the American Revolution.
