CT EAST HAMPTON — The Commission on Aging approved routine prior minutes and heard a feasibility pitch for adaptive reuse of the abandoned Middle Haddam School into affordable housing for older adults. Attorney Brian Corvo, representing Vesta Corporation, outlined a preliminary plan requiring town sale of a half-acre of adjacent land, contingent on extensive engineering and regulatory approvals at town, state, and federal levels. Senior Center Director Holly Marrero reported she is updating job descriptions to advance hiring for a full-time employee position the commission had advocated for during the budget cycle.
The fiscal year closed with an unspent balance of $400.79; two housing units will become available at month's end despite a waiting list of 61 individuals.
