Commission on Aging backs tax abatement research and education effort

CT EAST HAMPTON — Commission on Aging backs research and education on tax relief for seniors. Chair Eric Rosenberg, MD led a detailed discussion of East Hampton's tax abatement options following analysis by alternate member Meghan Rosenfeld; the commission unanimously adopted a resolution to research, disseminate, and educate older adults on available programs. Dr.
Rosenberg committed to accompanying COA members to meet with the Tax Assessor and providing annual input to the Town Council on recommended abatements. The EH Community Cares program now serves 70 members with 48 volunteers, completing an estimated 183 deeds annually.
