CT EAST HAMPTON — Commission on Aging hears presentation on At Home in Darien program. Chair Eric Rosenberg, MD, introduced guest Peter Eder, a retired public relations manager and volunteer with the Area Agency on Aging, to discuss a 14-year-old nonprofit serving approximately 500 to 700 residents age 60 and older in Darien's population of 21,000. AHID operates on a $300,000 annual budget with funding from grants, fundraising, and 600 donors, and provides transportation via town vehicles and volunteers, home safety evaluations, contractor referrals, social services, community events, retail discounts, and medical equipment loans.
The program reaches non-internet users through thrice-yearly mail newsletters.
