CT EAST HAMPTON — Conservation-Lake Commission re-elects leadership amid budget stalemate and recruitment crisis. Chair Jason Hartling and Vice Chair Robert Hart won unanimous support, but Vice Chair candidate Chuck Yenkner was voted down 6-2. The failed town budget leaves only partial commission funding through July, with a proposed $125,100 budget still pending approval; Parks and Recreation liaison Shawn Mullen flagged a needed additional $100,000 for aeration services.
Alternate member Cheryl Lobo resigned, leaving the commission with two alternate and one regular member vacancy. Lake water quality data show declining Secchi disk readings, and improperly assembled hazard buoys require relocation to DEEP-permitted GPS locations by Parks and Recreation staff.
