Fire Commission approves $4,000 for Nevada conference trip.

CT EAST HAMPTON — Fire Commission greenlights $4,000 conference spending for two top officials. Chairman William Abbott and Fire Chief Robert Rainville received unanimous approval to attend the Fire Design Conference in Reno, Nevada, on May 19. The five-member board, chaired by Eric Germain, also unanimously approved $9,500 from account 5633 for the annual dinner and voted unanimously to adopt revised firefighter awards guidelines, lowering retirement eligibility age from 60 to 55 and capping lump-sum payouts at $10,000.

Annual hydrant testing began with two units examined; the new firehouse contract signing remains pending.
