Fire Commission approves May minutes; discusses budget and new firehouse plans.

CT EAST HAMPTON — Fire Commission approves prior month minutes and reviews departmental operations. The fiscal-year budget stands at 98.99 percent spent, with vehicle and building maintenance line items running over and slated for increased funding in the next cycle, members said. The planning firm SP&A is developing a five-, ten-, and twenty-year projection report on the firehouse that will be discussed in July.
Fire Chief Robert Rainville reported 77 roster members, 18 with medical training and five additional members qualified for interior firefighting, while the commission discussed a potential 10 percent annual increase to the Firefighter Awards Program and stipend amounts beginning 2027-28.
