Lake commission backs original hydrilla treatment plan over Army Corps experiment

CT EAST HAMPTON — Conservation Lake Commission votes unanimously to reject Army Corps of Engineers hydrilla experiment. The commission, meeting Thursday, heard that EverBlue Lakes has begun sampling the lake and that the Army Corps proposal would conduct spot treatments in three to four key areas during June 22-26 and July 13-17, but determined to continue with the town's original treatment strategy. In a separate action, the commission voted unanimously to partner with Parks and Recreation to develop a proposal for a locking swing-gate system with key-fob access at the Sear's Park boat launch ramp to control unregistered boat access.
The commission also voted 4-2 to set the lake level two to four inches below the dam during summer months.
