Library Advisory Board approves switch to LCI consortium membership
Library Advisory Board · Meeting of March 2, 2026
CT EAST HAMPTON — Library Advisory Board approves shift to LCI consortium beginning July 2027. Library Director Christine Cachuela reported that LCI membership dues are lower than current LION membership and increase at a fixed 2.5 percent annually versus LION's 3.5 to 4 percent, yielding greater long-term savings; the transition will provide patrons broader access to materials through interlibrary loan and more reliable delivery, though supplemental IT support will be needed. The Board voted unanimously to approve the switch and agreed to pursue Library inclusion in the town's Plan of Conservation and Development, establishing a goal of reaching the Connecticut State Library's recommended standard of 1.5 square feet per capita, with explicit attention to parking and future land acquisition needs.
