CT EAST HAMPTON — Library board approves redesigned summer reading program and cancels June meeting. Vice Chairperson Cynthia Shirshac led the meeting in the absence of Chair Jesse Alford, with members Melinda Jones, Melissa Jones, and Amie Meacham present. Library Director Christine Cachuela presented the redesigned program, "Unearth a Story," running June 26 through August 14, which replaces traditional passports with Bingo-style sheets combining reading goals with activity-based challenges to reduce staffing demands.
The Kick-Off event on June 26 will feature an obstacle course, dunk tank, ice cream, and face painting. Vice Chairperson Shirshac reported that the Friends of the Library are selling raffle tickets for restaurant gift bundles and plan to host their "Where's Bell?" program in July, which generated approximately 7,500 dollars in tracked community receipts last year.
