CT EAST HAMPTON — Library board backs state laptop program with unanimous vote. Library Director Christine Cachuela presented the Connecticut LaptopConneCT Program, through which East Hampton will receive 25 broadband-enabled laptops for distribution to eligible residents. Cachuela initially flagged concerns over staff capacity and patron privacy but after consulting with state officials learned that required digital skills training would be basic and that libraries need only one laptop in circulation by year-end for compliance.
Chair Jesse Alford moved approval, seconded by Jaime Krasnitski; the motion passed unanimously. Cachuela will submit participation paperwork and report on implementation procedures in September.
