CT EAST HAMPTON — Middle Haddam Historic District Commission approves replacement garage doors in historic district. The commission voted 5-0 to accept Barbara Angelico's application to replace two garage doors at 1 Schoolhouse Lane with steel sandwich doors featuring a woodgrain face and four panes of glass designed to mimic traditional carriage-style doors; Chair Charles Roberts and Clerk Peter Pach had visited a wholesale vendor to research the product, and Vice Chair Casey Donnelly reviewed design guidelines from Glastonbury, Roxbury, and Newport, Rhode Island, to ensure compatibility with the main structure. The commission also heard public remarks from Douglas Mackeown regarding a proposed waste department land acquisition of two parcels on West High Street across from the historic district.
