Middle Haddam panel approves two property alteration certificates

CT EAST HAMPTON — The Middle Haddam Historic District Commission unanimously approved two Certificates of Appropriateness for residential exterior work. Chair Charles Roberts presided over the regular meeting, with the commission voting 5-0 to allow Owen Flannery of 28 Keighley Pond Road to replace eight first-floor window sashes with vinyl clad thermal windows, build a dormer on the front left side of his house, and replace a double window with a single window, contingent on confirmation that outside window casings remain wood. The commission also voted 5-0 to approve David and Melissa Baribault's application to replace the existing asphalt roof at 33 High Point Drive with slate metal roofing, which carries a 50-year lifetime guarantee.
