CT EAST HAMPTON — Planning Commission continues contentious zone change hearing, approves recycling station. The commission continued its public hearing on a proposal by William House to rezone 200 West High Street from residential to commercial, moving the matter to June 3 after ten residents spoke in opposition citing spot zoning risks, neighborhood incompatibility, and environmental concerns; Planning and Zoning Official Juliet Hodge noted the 2016 comprehensive plan did not identify the area for commercial expansion. Separately, the commission approved Application PZC-26-004 for Clynk to install a curbside bottle and can redemption station at 11 East High Street, passing 6-1 with Commissioner Angelus Tammaro dissenting over visibility and location concerns.
The commission also scheduled a June 3 public hearing for Lakewood Estates, LLC to amend zoning regulations on Housing Opportunity Development requirements, and received a briefing on state housing legislation compliance requiring traffic mitigation district designations and draft regulatory language due by end of May.
