CT EAST HAMPTON — Planning and Zoning Commission rejects affordable housing zoning amendment. The Commission voted 6-1 to deny Lakewood Estates, LLC's application to reduce minimum acreage and adjust open space requirements for Housing Opportunity Development projects, with Vice-Chairman Michael Kowalczyk dissenting. Chairman Ray Zatorski and Mr.
Perreault cited the town's ongoing Plan of Conservation and Development update and the need to complete housing growth planning before making zoning decisions. The public hearing drew more than a dozen opponents who raised concerns about overdevelopment, infrastructure impacts, Lake Pocotopaug watershed protection, and consistency with community priorities for open space preservation. Planning and Zoning Official Juliet Hodge reported staffing vacancies in the department following departures of the Town Planner and Land Use Technician.
