CT EAST HAMPTON — East Hampton Town Council accepts $250,000 Connecticut DEEP grant for environmental remediation at 3 Walnut Avenue brownfields site. The fund will support cleanup and preparation of the 1.5-acre Village Center property for conversion to public recreation space. Board of Education Chairperson Nancy Kohler reported the department can reduce its proposed 4.81 percent budget increase to 4.3 percent; the council takes final budget action May 12.
Public Works Director Matt Walsh outlined Middle School parking lot paving at approximately $355,700, saving roughly $100,000 against initial estimates. In a separate WPCA session, Vice Chairman Jack Solomon was elected WPCA Chairperson; the group deferred a decision on a six-month moratorium affecting pending sewer expansion projects.
