Town Council approves August temporary budget, clears bulky waste bid waiver.

CT EAST HAMPTON — East Hampton Town Council unanimously approved a one-month operating budget of $6,253,330 for August and cleared a bid waiver for bulky waste disposal. The council authorized Director of Public Works Matt Walsh to hire Belltown Recycling at $150 per ton—down from $156.50 under the current All Waste contract—based on four competitive quotes. Council members postponed formal decisions on eliminating sidewalk snow removal and closing the transfer station by January 1, 2027, directing staff to gather more community input and prepare a detailed map of town-maintained sidewalks before action.
The council also unanimously appointed Chris Caldwell to the Agriculture Commission through December 31, 2028, and Tyler Semrow to the Clean Energy Task Force through December 31, 2026, and approved tax refunds of $1,131.08.
