Town Council approves property purchase and rejects grand list phase-in on 292 West High Street.
Town Council · Meeting of February 24, 2026
CT EAST HAMPTON — East Hampton Town Council votes to put $105,000 property purchase before voters on March 10. The 292 West High Street parcel, adjacent to the wastewater treatment plant, will be purchased from Joint Facilities Committee capital funds to accommodate future facility upgrades. In a 5-1 vote, with Council Member Ted Hintz, Jr. opposed, the council adopted the resolution; Hintz did not vote on the subsequent revaluation decision.
The council also voted unanimously to reject phasing in the 2025 grand list revaluation, which shifted substantially more tax burden to residential properties, and ordered staff to research homestead and veterans exemptions as alternatives. A donated right-of-way parcel on Wilkes Road was accepted unanimously.
