CT EAST HAMPTON — East Hampton Town Council unanimously approves sewer-use ordinance making connections voluntary for most existing properties. The revised Chapter 264 ordinance, passed 7-0 on a motion by Council Member Ted Hintz, Jr., and seconded by Council Member Karen Wanat, allows homeowners with frontage on sewer lines to opt out of connection while keeping mandatory requirements for newly constructed structures and failing septic systems. The Council also voted 6-1 to approve fiscal 2027 fee updates effective July 1, including a $12 increase tied to online permit processing, with Hintz dissenting; appointed eight Agriculture Commission members and two alternates; and set a public hearing for June 9 on Epoch Arts' $40,000 Neighborhood Assistance Act application for building energy upgrades.
