Town Council approves temporary mill rate of 27.79 as budgets await revision.

Town Council · Meeting of June 9, 2026

CT EAST HAMPTON — East Hampton Town Council unanimously sets temporary mill rate at 27.79 pending final budget adoption. Town Manager David Cox explained the rate, derived from new property valuations including Board of Assessment Appeals reductions, will support tax bills sent in late June. The Council also approved revised Police General Order 5.23 allowing officers under disciplinary investigation to review body-worn and dashboard camera recordings, aligning with recent state law changes, and accepted a revised job description for Public Utilities Administrator that removes water licensing requirements and emphasizes management experience.

The Council unanimously approved Epoch Arts' 40,000 dollar Neighborhood Assistance Act application for building upgrades, and voted 5-1-1 to revoke Mark Barmasse's Agriculture Commission appointment, with Vice Chairman Jack Solomon abstaining.
