Town Council terminates WPCA board, fires public utilities administrator

CT EAST HAMPTON — East Hampton Town Council unanimously votes to dissolve the Water Pollution Control Authority and terminate Public Utilities Administrator Anthony DeSimone. All seven council members approved motions to terminate the WPCA board and transfer its powers back to the Town Council following a special meeting where nineteen residents delivered public remarks demanding the firing and investigation into alleged misconduct and lack of transparency. The Council also voted unanimously to restart the acquisition process for 292 West High Street through the Board of Finance and Planning and Zoning for potential open space purchase, and clarified it has no plans to build a new sewage processing facility due to prohibitive costs.
