Water board approves sewer appeals and Tighe & Bond contract for facilities

CT EAST HAMPTON — Water Pollution Control Authority approves four sewer appeals and denies two others at June 2 meeting. Chair Jack Solomon and five members voted unanimously to reduce billing units for Richard Fielding, Steven Penn, and David Meara, and approved a unit reduction for Cody Kroeber; Michael Goral and Alan Pawlak were denied. Jeff Burr's reduction passed 5 to 1 with Chair Solomon opposing.
The board unanimously authorized an on-call services agreement with Tighe & Bond Engineering and approved the 2025 Consumer Confidence Reports for municipal water systems. With 67 grinder pumps requiring repairs or replacement at costs exceeding annual revenues by approximately 500 dollars per pump, and 19 additional manhole repairs scheduled for August at an estimated 39,500 dollars, the board voted to proceed with water shut-offs for five delinquent customers if full payment is not received by June 30, 2026.
