Water Pollution Control Authority approves six-month sewer moratorium

CT EAST HAMPTON — East Hampton Water Pollution Control Authority votes to halt sewer expansion. Chair Jack Solomon and the board voted 4-0 to impose a six-month moratorium on new sewer connections and flow increases, citing the need to review treatment facility capacity and coordinate with the town's updated plan of conservation and development. The moratorium will exempt existing Master Plan projects and single-family residents already served by sewer lines.
Town Manager David Cox will draft amendments to Town Code Chapter 264 to allow property owners to repair septic systems rather than connect to municipal sewer, except for new construction. The Authority approved a Developer's Permit Agreement with Belltown 30 LLC and Investment LLC for an eight-inch sewer extension at 30 Long Crossing and 8 Aldens Crossing, with a 15,000 dollar deposit for construction observation.
