Water Committee advances groundwater exploration for municipal supply

Water Committee Meeting · Meeting of January 7, 2026

CT EAST HAMPTON — Water Committee reviews groundwater exploration progress for municipal system. Apex Companies confirmed mid-February mobilization at Global Storage Property to install three test wells and monitoring network, with initial results expected by May 2026 and final sustainable yield data by September. Connecticut Department of Public Health approved $2 million in planning funding on the 2026 Intended Use Plan.

East Hampton and Connecticut Water are coordinating exploration and partnership terms; if the Rivercrest Well is permitted at 640 gallons per minute, East Hampton could serve local demand plus an additional 319 gallons per minute along proposed transmission segments.
