Finance Board Delays Budget Decision, Schedules June 22 Meeting
Board of Finance · Meeting of June 15, 2026
CT EAST HAMPTON — The Board of Finance tabled its FY 2026-2027 budget assessment, scheduling June 22 for a revised recommendation. Following the June 2 referendum defeat of both Town and Board of Education budgets, all seven board members examined consolidating support roles and discussed applying a projected $600,000 FY 2026 positive variance to reduce the mill rate; Finance Director Jeffery Jylkka noted the surplus remains a projection. A board majority favored using the surplus with additional six-figure budget cuts from each budget, though no specific amounts were proposed.
The unrestricted fund balance is projected to reach 12.5 percent, within the board's 10-12 percent target range.
